こういった時期に具体的な取り組みをと呼びかけてもとても無理でしょうが、昨日4月7日のWHOの世界保健デーでは薬剤耐性菌の問題が取り上げられています。

海外では、抗生剤が処方せんなしで販売されたり、家畜の飼料などに広く使われている（ある国では獣医が抗生剤の販売で収入の40％を得ているという）、新薬の開発の遅れなどにより、薬剤耐性菌の脅威が日本以上に懸念されています。
WHOでは、こういった現状を受け、次のような6つの方策を挙げ、各国に対策をとるよう呼びかけています。（誤訳があったらご指摘ください）
- develop and implement a comprehensive, financed national plan
包括的、資金を投入した国家計画の策定と実行 - strengthen surveillance and laboratory capacity
製造能力と監視の強化 - ensure uninterrupted access to essential medicines of assured quality
品質が保証された必須医薬品へのアクセスの保障 - regulate and promote rational use of medicines
医薬品の適正使用の管理と促進 - enhance infection prevention and control
感染症の予防とコントロールの強化 - foster innovation and research and development for new tools.
新しいツールの研究開発の育成
マーガレット・チャンWHO事務局長はステートメントで、各国は医療従事者、薬剤師、患者、製薬会社など社会を巻き込んだ運動を展開するよう呼びかけています。

厚労省でも世界保健デーについて、「抗菌薬耐性は医薬品の不適切な使用（例えば、規定量以下の薬剤投与や処方された治療薬の服用の途中終了）によって助長されます。また低品質の薬剤や処方の誤り、感染防止策の甘さも薬剤耐性の発達や拡大を助長します」とのアナウンスをしていますが、具体的にどう対策をするかということになると難しいでしょうね。
