英国議会の決算委員会（Public Accounts Committee）は3日、臨床試験へのアクセスとタミフルの国家備蓄についての報告書を公表しています。

英国でも日本と同様パンデミック対策として、抗ウイルス薬（タミフル：4億2400万ポンド（約730億円）、リレンザ：1億3600万ポンド（約234億円））の政府備蓄が行われていますが、備蓄を維持するために新たに4900万ポンド（約84億円）を投じる必要性があることから、その意義について検討した報告書となっています。
報告書では、現在の国家備蓄のあり方を疑問視、海外の備蓄状況を見ながら適切なレベルの確認を求めるともに、政策判断の材料となる、臨床試験（有効性、特に合併症や死亡を減少させるかどうか）のデータの開示の不十分さも懸念する内容となっています。
日本でもパンデミック対策に多くの税金が抗ウイルス薬の備蓄に投じられていますが、単に使用期限の延長だけではなく、政策判断の根拠となる臨床データのさらなる検討を行い、備蓄の必要性や必要レベルについてのさまざまな視点の確認が必要かもしれません。
