喉の綿棒検査で細菌の存在が確認された場合で、薬剤師が発熱痛スコア2または3に対して抗生物質を処方
・イングランドの Acute Sore Throat Pharmacy First (ASTPF) service
FeverPain スコアリング システムを使用して評価され、スコアが 4 または 5 の患者に、薬剤師が抗生物質の投与を考慮
両国でデータの収集方法が異なるため、直接比較することはできないものの、抗生剤の処方率は、ASTPF で72.7％ だったのに対し、STTTでは 29.9% に留まった。
喉の綿棒検査を行うウェールズのSTTT（咽頭炎検査・治療）の方が、イングランドPharmacy Firstよりも抗生剤の使用が少ない傾向にあった。
咽頭痛でSTTTサービスを受診した患者100人あたり、15-18種類の抗生物質が節約されたと推定される。
研究者らは、薬局主導の STTT サービスは安全で、費用対効果が高く、抗菌薬管理に貢献するとした。
