米FDAは7日、ビスフォスネート製剤を服用している患者に日常生活に支障をきたすような激しい筋肉痛、関節痛、骨の痛み（＝筋骨格痛、musculoskeletal）が起きる可能性があるとして、注意を呼びかけました。

日本の添付文書でもアレンドロン酸、リセドロン酸にこれらの副作用の記載がありますが、骨粗鬆症の患者さんでは痛みはよく訴える症状であり、FDAでは副作用としてのこれらの症状が見逃されている可能性があるとして今回の注意喚起になったようです。
FDAでは、この筋骨格痛は使用開始後いつ起きるかや頻度はわからないとしながらも、ビスフォスネート製剤の中止で症状が軽快したケースがあるとしていて、医療専門職に対し、本剤の使用中の患者がこういった症状を訴えないかどうかモニターするよう呼びかけました。
なお、筋骨格痛は静脈投与のタイプや週１回、月１回の内服剤使用開始後に起こる可能性があるとして、ビスフォスネート製剤は投与する場合には、低用量の1日1回タイプのもので開始することを呼びかける論文も発表されています。
